Proposed Cell Tower at 2264 Rte. 2 Marshfield, VT

we need your comments

The time we have to effect change is nearly at an end. Your comment submission is urgently needed.

The Vermont Public Utility Commission is responsible for approving/denying tower proposals. They will only hear our concerns if enough people step forward. As you can see by the timer above, now is the time to do so. Once this clock runs out, so does our opportunity to do anything.

There are two categories of submission: Intervenors and everyone else. See instructions for filing and which category applies to you below.

** Before submitting, please read the section below the instructions on how to write an effective comment.

If you need assistance with your form or the instructions, please contact us.

Instructions for:

intervenors

In order to for the PUC to hear our concerns, we must have residents with “particularized interests” file a Motion to Intervene. Without enough intervenors, the tower may proceed without any local testimony. Intervenors are those who would see the tower from their property and adjoining landowners.

Please act now by submitting a Motion to Intervene, here’s how:

  1. Download this Motion to Intervene PDF form.

  2. Fill out name, address, email and phone on the first page.

  3. Go to the second page and use the second box to fill out your comment. See below regarding what you can and can not mention in your comment.

Once your PDF form is filled out and saved, please email it to: vce.org

Instructions for:

Everyone else

If you do not qualify as an intervenor, you can still file a Public Comment, and it is incredibly important to do so! Here’s how:

  1. Go to the tower application page on ePUC

  2. Above the green box, there is a “select action” dropdown. Click the dropdown and choose “Add Public Comment”

  3. Fill out the online form with your comment. Be sure to file as an individual. See below regarding what you can and can not mention in your comment.

How to:

Your comment should of course reflect your own concerns. Sadly however, the subjects of health impacts or property value loss are considered not valid by the PUC and will be rejected. You can make a more impactful case by highlighting any of the following points that impact you:

write an effective comment that will be reviewed not rejected

Intervenors:

Explain how the project impacts your specific interests. Aesthetic issues like would you see it from your house? Is your house historic? Would environmental issues impact you personally like increased runoff causing flooding? Would the disruptions to the adjacent stream and wetland impact you? Marshfield Town Plan & Bylaws violations also have standing - see below for more.

Everyone Else:

Everything in the Intervenor’s column is fair game for Public Comments. Plus essentially any other concerns that do not include health or property values. The PUC is looking for YOU to point them to issues with the tower proposal - so take a look at the Assessment of the Marshfield Town Plan and Telecoms Bylaws below and let them know what you find. You could mention coverage issues like how poor the proposed coverage solution is or how we now have adequate coverage due to fiber being installed and text-to-satellite options now available. Or environmental issues like the fact that construction would take place on an extremely steep slope.
